Built for speed, not for endurance? No problem. You can still be a part of the excitement at the Hobsonville Half Marathon! The 5km option offers a chance for the speedsters to go all out ... and for those with more modest ambitions to tick off their own venerable fitness goals.
And believe us ... this ain't no ParkRun. The 5k event features all the bells and whistles of the longer distance races with a turn-by-turn directions, km markers ... and that all-important finisher medal waiting for you at the end.
Cya there!
The Course
The 5k course at the Hobsonville Half Marathon starts with an immediate out-and-back section into Lockheed St - just to get our 5k distance spot on - before a thrilling charge down Buckley Ave. Approaching the northern side of the route, we'll divert off the road and into Sunderland Park to join the coastal walkway. Pay attention here as there will be some mixing of slower 10k participants with faster 5k runners and the decision point is right away. 10kers will turn right onto the boardwalk whilst 5kers carry on staight ahead. The route will turn you around at this point and take you along the beautiful coastal path - over the sweeping Sunderland bridges and back towards Buckley Ave. From here it's a rapid up-and-down to the venue and the welcome sight of the finish line!

Safety |
|
|---|---|
| On Course | You must always remain fully aware of your surroundings and look out for uneven surfaces, obstacles or vehicles. Even where the road is closed, we cannot guarantee it will be traffic-free. Only proceed where you are satisfied it is safe to do so. |
| Medics | Medical services will be provided by an appropriately licensed medical provider who will be available on-site and available to attend emergencies on course. In the case of an emergency, marshals or race crew *may* contact the on-site medical team in the first instance as they may be able to respond sooner than 111. Important! If in any doubt, where there is a medical emergency, ask someone to call 111. |
| Marshals | Please obey the marshals where they are acting for your safety. Marshals can make emergency calls on your behalf or contact event medical staff. Important! Event marshals are provided by third-party organisations. They are volunteers and should be treated with respect, however they do not speak on behalf of the event organiser. Whilst provided with appropriate and accurate information, we cannot guarantee they will always communicate this. Participants have PRIMARY responsibility for their own safety. |
